Nestled within a small terrace of four, this Victorian cottage was once occupied by farm workers and enjoys a rural, tranquil aspect. Poppy Cottage has undergone a makeover to offer cosy self catering holiday accommodation whilst many original features retain its character and charm. The lounge focuses upon an open fire; idyllic to gaze into and watch the flames dance after a day exploring the stunning countryside that surrounds Poppy Cottage. A small galley style kitchen, bathroom and one of the three double bedrooms are also on the ground floor as well as a spacious dinning room, which has views to the front of the cottage and where a staircase leads to a loft conversion where there are two further double bedrooms.
Poppy Cottage enjoys a rural setting yet conveniently situated just over a mile west of Cornhill-on-Tweed, where there is a well stocked village shop/cafe and pub available. A further mile up the A697 brings you to Coldstream, which edges the salmon rich River Tweed to form a natural boundary between England and Scotland. It has an ancient history, stretching back to the bronze age, and is without doubt the most dramatic and historic entrance into Scotland. Coldstream is recognised as "The first true Border Toon" and is the birthplace of The Coldstream Guards, which are now the oldest British regiment. The nearby Hirsel Estate offers wonderful woodland walks, and a superb 18 hole golf course recently voted 'the friendliest course in the Borders'.
